Geiger, D. L. 1998. Club Conchylia Informationen 30(4/6): 13-15 | Web Version A new lighting method for macrophotography is introduced. The high light levels and the convenience of Through The Lens (TTL) exposure required for such photographs can be obtained by combining the high output of sudio flashes with low power TTL flashes. A TTL flash is TTL connected to the camera body, and a non-TTL flash is connected either by a two-pole synchro cable or a slave sensor. The base illumination is provided by the hight-output, but non-TTL flash, whereas the TTL flash adds the modulating light while the camera body gives correct TTL exposure feedback and allows for manual esxposure correction by means of the +/- adjustment. Cameras that are capable of taking changing light situation during exposure into account, such as Olympus OM2n and higher models, are suitable for such a task. Successful set-ups are described.
