Most raw images used for the monograph are now available on-line for examination and download to qualified persons and institutions. Some species on which active projects are on-going are withheld. To request access, please fill out the form below, and I will get back to you. This service is intended for insitutions getting the images of their specimens that I took, researchers looking for additional image data, and adavanced shell collectors seeking further information. Any commercial usage, including commercial identification work, is prohibited and/or will require prior written permission from all relevant parties. All image viewing and downloading will be tracked by user and IP address. The >13,000 SEM images and a few light microscope images are available as highest quality .jpg files, as well as .zip file for each species for easy download of all images of a given species. Images vary from publication quality to simple record keeping shots to poor, both in terms of specimen as well as image quality. Sighly less than 40 GB are uploaded; individual images range in size from 7 MP (most) to VGA (some early ones). Only images taken by me or at SBMNH are available. I have removed all images kindly provided for the monograph by others [Please report any oversights. Thank you.]. The plates shown in the monograph have been removed. The images are organized in hierarchical directories by genus, species, lot, occasionally particular specimens. To find the associated specimen data, please check the spread sheet. Standard collection abbreviations as listed in the monograph are used. No-1234 refers to column A in the spread sheet, referred to in the monograph as the DLG #1234 project identification number. The spread sheet does not indicate which lots have been imaged. Directories labeled "main" contain the images for the large 2x2 images plate in the monograph. Directories labeled 1A, 1B, ... 2C contain the images on the first or second 3x4 images plates in the monograph. Some lot-sub-directories use old manuscript names or even wrong names (prior misidentification by me) that must be ignored. The genus-species directory structure is the guide to the current identification of the images in the sub-directories. The naming of lot directories varies: No-1234, collection abbreviation - registration number, collection - locality, or any other combination. Note that registration numbers are those at the time the specimens were examined. Many lots originally contained multiple species, and new registration numbers may have been assigned to specimens split from the original lot. Some images may be shown without scale bars due to image flattening during .jpg conversion. In many cases, scale bars are shown on the respective plates in the monograph, so please check there first. If you do require true original .tif or layered .psd images, please contact me with reason for why the available image is unsuitable.
